SPF 50+ Should Be Your Non-Negotiable
By @kyliejaneonline on 9/25/2026
Summer in Australia means warmer days, beach trips, outdoor lunches and plenty of sunshine — but it also means we need to be extra mindful ofUV radiation and protecting our skin.
At Kylie Jane Cosmetics, we believe great skincare isn't just about treating your skin — it's also about protecting the results of your treatments. That's why SPF 50+ broad-spectrum sunscreen should be an essential part of your daily skincare routine, especially during Summer.
Why is UV radiation harmful to your skin?
Ultraviolet (UV) radiation is invisible, so you can't always see or feel the damage happening to your skin.
There are two types of UV radiation we particularly need to consider:
UVA penetrates deeper into the skin and contributes to premature ageing, pigmentation, loss of elasticity and long-term skin damage. It also contributes to skin cancer.
UVB is the main cause of sunburn and also contributes to skin cancer and other forms of sun damage.
Over time, repeated UV exposure can contribute to sunspots, uneven pigmentation, premature ageing, wrinkles, roughened skin and skin cancer.
Why SPF 50+ and broad-spectrum?
When choosing your everyday facial sunscreen, look for SPF 50+ and broad-spectrum protection.
SPF relates primarily to protection against UVB radiation, while broad-spectrum sunscreen provides protection against both UVA and UVB. Cancer Council Australia recommends SPF 50 or SPF 50+, broad-spectrum and water-resistant sunscreen when UV levels are 3 or above.
It's also important to remember that SPF isn't a licence to stay in the sun all day. No sunscreen provides 100% protection, which is why sunscreen should be combined with shade, protective clothing, a broad-brimmed hat and sunglasses.
SPF after your skin treatments is a MUST!
If you've invested in professional skin treatments, protecting your skin afterwards is just as important as the treatment itself.
At Kylie Jane Cosmetics, we recommend making SPF 50+ part of your post-treatment skincare routine.
After a treatment, your skin may need particular care while it recovers. Following the aftercare advice provided by your skin therapist is essential, and daily sun protection should be a non-negotiable part of your routine.
Think of it this way: you're investing in your skin to improve its appearance and condition — don't let unnecessary UV exposure work against those results.
Your SPF should be the final step of your morning skincare routine, before makeup.
AIRYDAY at Kylie Jane Cosmetics
An Australian sunscreen brand that has created what they call an "SPF Wardrobe" — a range of SPF options designed for different skin types, tones and preferences.
AIRYDAY's range includes SPF 50+ facial sunscreens designed to make daily sun protection feel more like skincare than a chore. Their range also includes body and lip SPF products.
Find your AIRYDAY SPF
One of the things we love about the AIRYDAY range is that you don't necessarily have to settle for a sunscreen you don't enjoy wearing.
From natural finishes to glow-enhancing options and mineral formulas, the range gives you choices depending on your skin and the finish you're looking for. AIRYDAY describes its products as an SPF wardrobe — because different days and different skin needs can call for different options.
Pop into Kylie Jane Cosmetics and let us help you find the AIRYDAY SPF that's right for your skin.
How to get the most from your SPF
Applying sunscreen once in the morning isn't the whole story. To help maintain protection:
Apply sunscreen generously to exposed skin.
Apply approximately 20 minutes before sun exposure.
Reapply every two hours when outdoors.
Reapply after swimming, sweating or towel-drying.
Don't forget your ears, neck, décolletage and hands.
Use sunscreen alongside protective clothing, a hat, shade and sunglasses.
And remember — applying more sunscreen doesn't mean you can stay in the sun for longer. Sunscreen is one part of a complete sun-protection routine.
Your skin treatments are an investment. Your SPF helps protect that investment.
Visit Kylie Jane Cosmetics to shop our AIRYDAY SPF range and find your new everyday summer essential. 💛
