Let's Talk About Hyaluronic Acid - the word on everyones lips - What does it Really do for Your Skin?
If you are like me and always look at skin care labels, chances are you've seen Hyaluronic Acid pop up everywhere - serums, moisturises, even foundations! but what is is, and why is everyone talking about it with out explaining why? let me explain in simple terms, from my perspective as a Beauty Therapist who by the way is now a Nurse - hence my long 4 year absence from my precious Blog! Hyaluronic Acid (or HA for short) is something our skin actually makes naturally. its a moisture magnet - it can hold up to 1,000 x its own weight in water! think of it like a big drink for your skin. when we are younger, our skin produces HA in truck loads, keeping it plump smooth and glowing! Juicy children's skin we all admire! but as we age we are exposed to sun, stress and harsh products those natural levels drop (and age of course over time levels drop!) this is when we begin to notice fine lines and dull skin start to creep in.
TIPalways apply HA to slightly damp skin and always 1st then seal it in with moisturiser. this will help lock in the hydration giving you that beautiful dewy glow we all love!personally i love using HA at home and in my Clinic. when clients tell me there skin feels dry, tight or flat this ingredient is my go to its simple safe and it works!so next time you see 'Hyaluronic Acid' on a label, don't be scared by the word Acid, its not harsh nor exfoliating. its one of the gentlest, most effective ways to keep your skin hydrated, healthy and glowing!look for high concentrations of HA don't be fouled by the WE HAVE 2% HA, look for salon ranges, you pay more but you also get results 2% wont cut it. My fav is by Ainhoa Cosmetics Australia no lie 85% Hyaluronic acid $169 and will last you 4-6 months as you only need 1-2 drops!
